GREASE

Shading indicates the recommendation for the correct amount of grease in wheel hub.

(Fill hub with grease to inside diameter of outer races and also fill hub grease cap.)

SUGGESTED GREASE PROPERTIES

Soap Type - Lithium Complex or Equivalent

Dropping Point - 446° F (230° C) Minimum

Consistency - NLGI No. 2 or No. 1

Additives - Corrosion & Oxidation Inhibitors, EP Optional

Base Oil - Solvent refined Petroleum Oil

Viscosity Index............................................. 80 Minimum

Pour Point...................................+14°F (-10°C) Maximum

Note: The above grease properties are suggested for all wheel bearing

applications including disc brake equipped vehicles where high temperatures

might be experienced. Similar greases with lower maximum temperature

capabilities, like lithium 12-hydroxy stearate, are suitable

for non-disc brake equipped vehicles or where occasional temperature

peaks do not exceed 320° F (160° C) and where frequent temperature

peaks do not exceed 248F°(130 C).

OIL

Oils generally recommended are:

A.Gear Oil API GL-5 Performance Level

SAE 90

Normally Preferred

SAE 75W, SAE 80W

Extreme Cold Environment

SAE 140

Extreme Warm Environment

Engine Oil

SAE 50

Normally Preferred

SAE 30, SAE 40

Extreme Cold Environment

Note: Do not mix motor oil with EP gear oil,

due to possible problems of incompatibility.

Grease bearing cone by machine or by hand method.

Force grease between rollers, cone and cage.

Failure to correctly lubricate

bearing - and maintain proper

lubrication - may result in

bearing damage, which could

cause wheel to lock or come

off during operation.
